Back in the days before modern conveniences, miners needed a way to know if there was a gas leak in the mine. They didn't have carbon monoxide alarms so they came up with another idea. They would take a canary down into the mine with them -- if there was a gas leak, the canary will die so the miners then have time to get out before they die. So the term "the canary in the coal mine" came to mean anything that was a warning that something bad might happen.
For centuries, we Jews have been "the Canaries in the coal mine". When rulers had been nice to Jews in the past and suddenly, the country's rulers started treating Jews badly, it was a harbinger of things to come for Gentiles. And, strangely enough, it works like that in the other direction, too.
When a leftist group pops onto the scene I always get the impression that buried in their "philosophy" is either anti-Israel or bald-faced anti-semitism (they are, actually one and the same -- why would someone be anti-Israel and not anti-China, who occupy Tibet and other areas; anti-France/Spain, who occupy the Basques; Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq for occupying Kurdistan, etc. And Israel isn't even occupying a land that belonged to the "Palestinians". So why would anyone be against the only democratic country in the Middle East?)
But just like BLM doesn't ask black inner city citizens if they want the police or if they blame whites for their troubles (from what I've gleaned, a vast majority want the police -- even want MORE police -- and don't blame whites (most of the black leaders I hear are trying to lead the black community by encouraging black men to marry before they have children, to finish High School, to get good-paying jobs (there are so many in IT) and grab the brass ring of the American Dream (it's open to all Americans) Jew haters don't ask the Arabs who live in Israel whether they prefer to live in Israel proper (which is administered by Israel) or the PA (Palestinian Authority) administered land. So many prefer to live under Israel's administrations.
Check these things out -- are the people you are "fighting" for looking for what you are giving them? Or are you being so patronizing as to tell these people that they should want what you tell them they should want? If the latter, check out what you are fighting for.
In any case, while black lives matter (as do all lives) they clearly don't matter to BLM. If they did, BLM would put way more effort into preventing deaths of black children in the inner cities, they would care more about the newborn baby, the baby who was killed in her grandma's back yard, the toddler killed riding in the back of his father's car, etc. than they do about career criminals. They would put the responsibility squarely on their own shoulders and that of the "gang bangers", the criminals who are killing people and not on the shoulders of the police, who are doing a good job despite so many rioters attacking them.
Do we want progress in the black and minority communities or do we want things that have been improving in the past 4 years (like unemployment rates in black and minority communities and small business numbers) or do we want to go back to the worse numbers we saw for so many years? Do we want the progress towards being a unified people, living American ideals, using the Constitution as our guide and Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" Speech as our blueprint for unity? Or do we want large cities like New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Washington DC, Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, etc. burnt to the ground and becoming unlivable? Think about it. I would much prefer police.
